01What is Claude Design

The learning curve just disappeared

Anthropic Labs shipped Claude Design on April 17th, 2026. It runs on Claude Opus 4.7 and lives at claude.ai/design — a completely separate platform from the regular chat interface, with its own canvas, its own project management, and its own usage limits.

The fundamental problem with Figma and Canva is not that they are bad tools. It is that you need to already know design to use them well. You spend 90 minutes spacing things, adjusting palettes, and wrestling with alignment — before you have produced a single sentence of actual content. Claude Design removes that entirely. Describe what you need in plain language. The model handles every visual decision.

Before

Open Figma or Canva
Learn the tool interface
Manually space every element
Adjust palettes by hand
1–2 hours later: first draft

With Claude Design

Open claude.ai/design
Describe what you need
First draft appears in seconds
Iterate with plain language
Done in minutes

Everything you can build with it

Marketing visuals

Plan requirement

Claude Design requires a Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise plan. It is not available on the free tier. Credits reset weekly — very different from regular Claude chat, which resets every few hours. Plan your usage accordingly.
